In response to Jeff's post

Jeff,

I agree with you 110%. Since we are both Social Studies-History Edu Majors, we know how the world have felt with having women involved in politics, religious activities, and society overall. Our society is very sexist about who should play what roles in society and we have very strict roles about them. For example when Anne Hutchinson tried to speak up in New England about her viewpoints about the church, she had to run away from her peers (so she didn't get killed) and she created what is today the state of Rhode Island. Now who is to say what would have happened if Hutchinson's views were allowed...maybe we could have had women priests and "Mothers" instead of "Fathers" of the Catholic Church to tell us the word of God.

We need to move away from our sexist attitudes and allow women to prosper in our society. In our own government, women representatives make-up roughly 18% of the House and 20% of the Senate for this current Congressional session. Women need to be allowed to express themselves more and need not be afraid to voice their opinions. It took Hillary Clinton a load of courage to run as President in 2008 and she was neck-and-neck with Barack Obama too. If only more women were like HClint, maybe we could have been more capable of many things.
