As we can see this week, we are talking about Exotic Beings and Conjoined Twins. I find it interesting that all of them are connected in some way or another. There are many ideas that these exotic beings and conjoined twins are freaks, even though they are normal people. For instance let's take Sara Baartman (aka Venus Hottentot). Many people considered her a freak because she was different to the society she was brought in. Then you have conjoined twins, and many people think those people are freaks. But what about in today's society? Do we consider these two kinds of people freaks? Or are they completely normal to today's society?

I think in today’s society, conjoined twins are still in a way considered freaks. They are still not understood entirely and people are curious as to how they live their lives and function. Conjoined twins are put on display in TV shows, but are not as frequently mentioned or heard about in society. I also think that in relation to Sara Baartman, it is normal in today’s society for people to dress within their culture. Some women wear head scarves for example, which are a little different to Americans, but they are not considered freaks for doing so.
