Comments of William's Post: "A Picture is Worth A Thousand Words"

I do agree with William's statement on how African Americans were exposed and exploited to a far greater degree. In the reading about the McKoy sisters, they describe the discomfort of the girls as the men are trying to "study" their genitalia and features of their body. The girls then took control of the situation and did not allow for people to study their body. I do not believe that they were under any control in their decision to have them looked at for one time in six years due to the circumstances. I believe that they had no control of what would happen in the examination, and that their faces represent a discomfort of being exposed and exploited once again after six years of being out of view from male scientists who were after their sexuality.  I see African American women are under the control of society and not one form of master. They have gained rights but are still holding back on their true potential due to the cultural stereotypes presented on society. Michelle Obama has gained authority through her husband and has allowed African American women to gain  more prominence in society and be able to reach their full potential.
